Slack
Skype and Email may be one of the
ways to interact with another individual. However, the slack software has been
proven to be more effective, when it comes to team collaboration and
communication. Team communication is important in today’s society, so being
able to connect with your peers on any device comes in handy. Discussions in
slack can be accessed from everyone in the group, or it can be private by
direct messaging a certain individual (Mccracken, 2015). Several of these features
allow us to speak with one another with emotion and organization.

Of the many tools in slack,
integration, is one of the trademark of this software. The ability to integrate
a third party service into one domain, makes it hassle-free for the users.
According to Warner, working on a remote team requires clear communication
(2016). By integrating other web development tools into slack, we are able to
keep up with all information in one go. For example, by connecting the web
service GitHub onto slack. We are able to keep tabs on our repositories. This
integration will post information that is uploaded on GitHub to any channel we
desire. We are currently using many of these web services such as GitHub,
Twitter, and Trello. By merging these tools together, it makes it easier for us
to move forward on any projects that we may be working on.
In terms of slack, the RSS
integration receives update in slack through the subscription of an Atom feed
URL. The feeds will be updated periodically, and the new material will be posted
into any channel it is linked to. These feeds are accessible through slack, so
that we are able to manage the type of feeds we want. This function is useful
because we can view all the feeds in one spot and address ourselves to the
situations that is happening in the world. To add an RSS feed, in the text
field, type “/feed” and the link for the website you are trying to follow
(Manjoo, 2015). It is best to create separate channels for the RSS that you are
subscribed to in order to maintain all the info.
In the end, slack promotes team
collaboration by having the many tools to connect with each other. Integration
is a well-known implementation that gives us the ability to progress. By
exploiting the services that is provided on slack, there should be no problem
in advancing in your team-work capabilities.
